Walking a downtown street

Arizona sun beating down.

A breeze runs its hand through my hair

I look over at you 

From behind my sunglasses,

You're already looking at me.

You smile

It's small

But it's just for me.

I smile back

Stepping to you 

While you pull me tight

To your chest.

Your lips stop just before they meet mine

Your voice low as you tell me

You love me.

I lean up into your lips

Knowing you weren't sure 

That you'd ever be allowed to say that to me

Openly.

I whisper it back

Giving you one more kiss

As I run my hand down your arm

Linking our hands together.

You smile down at me

Pulling me tight for a hug

Before you turn us to continue walking

Pressing a kiss to my hair.

The Arizona sun never felt so warm and soft.
