It's a Beautiful
Mornings feel different now
Not just because I'm waking earlier
Before the sun yawns and stretches awake -
It's because you're here.
I press closer to you
The best pillow I didn't have before.
You move without waking
Holding me tighter.
I smile against your skin
Pressing a kiss to your shoulder.
You murmur
As I run my hand along your chest.
I lay beside you
Rest the last thing on my mind already
But I wait
Letting you have your peace.
Once you do wake though
It's pillow talk:
How'd you sleep
Any good dreams
Did you dream dirty dreams of me -
Though you're the only one that asks that.
Then you know what I want
And it's not the same as it is in the light of day
Or by the soft glow of the moon.
This moment
Between when the moon goes to bed
And the sun is waking up
Is like a portal
To a different time and place
As we meet each other anew.
There's laughter
Lazy touches
And slow kisses
Like we already know a secret
Even though it's not a secret at all.
You say dirty things
I tell you what you want to hear
And yet
It's softer now.
And when we're both lying spent on the bed
It's feather-like touches down my spine
Small kisses peppering your chest and arms
And then
If I'm lucky
It's snuggling back together;
But some days
It's me rushing to get dressed
Your eyes on me the whole time
Distracting me
And three dozen kisses
In the span of twenty minutes,
Neither of us able to get enough
In a different way than before.
And it's laughing against your lips
As I try to leave and you pull for me to stay -
Our favorite game to play.
All in all,
As the sun finally crests over the hills
Golden light spilling onto your face,
I am never happier than I am in these moments
And it's all because of you
Making the decision to stay one night
And us deciding the next morning
That you should stay forever.
