Blinding Lights
We're Bonnie and Clyde
An angel and the devil
Dancing in the living room -
Well, I'm dancing
You're watching me
Intently.
I whip my hair around like I'm on a stage,
Singing to you as you watch me let loose.
My body isn't mine anymore -
The music consuming me.
I do spirit fingers down your chest
And laugh as I lean in for a kiss.
You pull me in at the waist
Locking my hips to yours
Your eyes darkening
Despite the smile on your face.
I dance away from you
Smiling with my tongue between my teeth,
Loving the smile on your face as I move.
You may be darkness given form
But in this moment
I'm your light
And my soul is shining bright enough
That you shine too
Despite your thinking you're too broken to anymore.
I shimmy my shoulders,
Mouthing the words at you,
You're trying not to laugh.
I come in for another kiss
Wrapping my arms around your shoulders
Forcing you to move with me.
As I step back
80s dance moves make a come back
And then
You let out a few of your own moves;
I throw my head back laughing -
The jacket flap being my favorite.
You step back to me
Locking my hands behind my back as you kiss me,
Swaying together to the music,
Before I feel your hand on my cheek
And your smile beneath my lips.
Seeing you release yourself,
Letting your soul breathe,
That's why I stay.
You've been so tortured
And so have I
But together we make magic:
Your darkness soothing mine,
My light bringing out your own -
And you're the first person that hasn't run
Or tried to make me pick
One side of me to love.
And I love you all the more for that.
So keep your hands on me
As we dance together
Until we collapse on the couch in a heap
Our lips fused together
Limbs intertwined
As we show this world
Just what happens
When an angel glimpses hell
With the devil at her side,
And the devil sees the light of heaven,
With an angel on his arm.
An angel and the devil
