Tribulation
My heart has been yours for so long
I can't remember a time when it wasn't
Our story.
Yet, despite all of that,
All of the years,
I never quite let you in.
There's always a part of me that I keep tucked away
Because for all the ways you open your soul,
Showing me who you are,
There are things I can't share -
Things I won't share.
And maybe it's wrong,
Maybe I should let you go,
Let you find someone that can give you everything I can't,
But damn if I can let you go.
And if you were smart,
You might run,
Run to someone that can give you all that you ask for,
But you're just as addicted to the pain as I am.
And maybe that's why we stay,
Two broken people getting off on the heartache,
Obsessed with feeling all that we can,
No matter how wrong it may be.
I can't remember a time when it wasn't
Our story.
Yet, despite all of that,
All of the years,
I never quite let you in.
There's always a part of me that I keep tucked away
Because for all the ways you open your soul,
Showing me who you are,
There are things I can't share -
Things I won't share.
And maybe it's wrong,
Maybe I should let you go,
Let you find someone that can give you everything I can't,
But damn if I can let you go.
And if you were smart,
You might run,
Run to someone that can give you all that you ask for,
But you're just as addicted to the pain as I am.
And maybe that's why we stay,
Two broken people getting off on the heartache,
Obsessed with feeling all that we can,
No matter how wrong it may be.
