Honor Your Memory
It's like my body remembers
The day it stopped
And had to force itself to restart.
Because every year
As it gets closer to the day,
The day I lost you,
I get that feeling again-
That pit inside me opening once more.
And I fight to remember what it was for,
Why you're no longer here.
I fight to stay in the light,
The light you fought for me to have.
Yet my body is fighting me,
Demanding I sink down
To feel the pain of your absence.
Each year is a struggle
To honor you,
And to miss you.
