The Way You Look Tonight

I've always written with a lilt,
Always had an accent hidden beneath the words on the page.
And today,
It's heartache
Mixed with acceptance.
I've loved a handful,
Some never knowing my name,
And whether it was love for a dream
Or love for the person they made me,
I wouldn't trade a moment.
For who would I be
If I'd never found love in the hearts of others?
This sorrowful heart has seen the best,
And the worst,
Of life and the love it offers.
I've wandered city streets,
Driven country roads,
And sailed across bays
Trying to find the place my heart might rest.
Trying to drown out the incessant drumming,
The intoxicating pull to find you.
