Easy to Love
I never believed it before you,
Never thought I could really be loved.
There was always some part of me
That they wanted me to hide.
But with you,
Your easy banter,
Your gentle eyes,
Your open heart,
You want me,
All of me-
And you make me feel safe enough to give it.
And as you love me,
Opening the doors and windows
I'd long since boarded up,
Picking up all of the broken pieces
That are scattered about,
You're putting me back together,
Not for yourself,
But for me.
And even when I lose my temper,
When you hit a nerve just right,
You don't run,
Don't blame,
Don't condescend.
And at the end of the day,
You tell me again,
That there's so much to love,
That it's easy to love me.
And for the first time in my life,
I believe it.
