Sea Star Island
I stand beside the sea
The birds calling one another
As the wind whips my hair and clothes.
My face warms beneath the sun,
And I feel you here beside me.
I close my eyes as I think your name.
You said that I was
Strong enough,
That I had more to live for,
That I would find
All this world had to give.
I say:
I'm still lost.
I've reached new lows.
I've learned that the world
Seems to take
More than it gives.
If there's a brighter day,
A kinder day,
Ahead,
I'm quickly losing faith.
Four years.
For four years
I've tried.
I've given all I had.
And yet,
The birds calling one another
As the wind whips my hair and clothes.
My face warms beneath the sun,
And I feel you here beside me.
I close my eyes as I think your name.
You said that I was
Strong enough,
That I had more to live for,
That I would find
All this world had to give.
I say:
I'm still lost.
I've reached new lows.
I've learned that the world
Seems to take
More than it gives.
If there's a brighter day,
A kinder day,
Ahead,
I'm quickly losing faith.
Four years.
For four years
I've tried.
I've given all I had.
And yet,
For four years,
I've tried…
And failed.I've tried…
How much longer would you have me continue?
