Wind and Rain

When the storm came,
she stood in the rain,
letting it wash her clean.
And as the wind blew,
it took away the cobwebs in her soul too.

People hid from storms,
racing inside to avoid the damage they caused.
But she knew she was damaged,
so like called to like,
and there she stood.

When the storm finished its run,
still there she stood,
clean and free,
for the first time in months,
ready to begin again.

And as she walked in the sun,
feeling the lover-like caress on her skin,
she vowed,
this time,
she would be happy.
