Cupcake
I never knew what to expect of love,
But it certainly wasn't the scowl
Or the disdain I was met with
When I knocked on your door.
Yet through weeks of you
Pounding nails and splitting beams,
While I pretended
Not to notice your every move,
I began to like our routine,
Then I liked your sense of humor,
And then I liked the gentle side of you,
That no one else got to see...
And suddenly
As I gaze across the pillow at you,
I realize I'm in love,
And it's so much more,
More than I ever thought it could be.
But it certainly wasn't the scowl
Or the disdain I was met with
When I knocked on your door.
Yet through weeks of you
Pounding nails and splitting beams,
While I pretended
Not to notice your every move,
I began to like our routine,
Then I liked your sense of humor,
And then I liked the gentle side of you,
That no one else got to see...
And suddenly
As I gaze across the pillow at you,
I realize I'm in love,
And it's so much more,
More than I ever thought it could be.
