Moonlight Promise

As we lie on the grass,
An old blanket beneath our backs,
Eyes cast to the moon,
The stars winking back,
I said
"Promise me
That it will always be you and me."

Your fingers wound through mine,
As you turned to face me,
Eyes sparkling in the twilight,
"Until the end of time."

Your lips began a
Feather like trace across my skin.
And as we lie there,
With the universe as our witness,
Our souls became one.
